Switch on effects, drag sliders and watch them on a live 3D preview. Then save a real .shader file for Built-in, URP or HDRP. It also opens any Unity shader, including surface shaders.
Every one of these is a preset you can open in one click and change. These are real renders from the app's preview, with its lighting presets, ground shadow and bloom.
Choose one of 32 presets (Spell orb, Toon ape, Lava…) or start blank and switch on effects from 8 categories.
Colors, speeds and sizes are sliders. The 3D preview updates instantly, and a Quest meter shows how heavy the shader is.
Press Save and drop the .shader file anywhere in your Assets folder. It works in Built-in, URP and HDRP.

Shaders you didn't make in Shader Forge run their own code in the preview, just like normal. That includes surface shaders, your own #include files and URP shaders.

The converter rewrites includes, lighting, fog, shadows and textures. It puts your properties in an SRP-Batcher CBUFFER and turns surface shaders into proper URP passes.

Every time you open or save a shader, and every few minutes while you work, Shader Forge keeps a version with a little preview picture.

A plugin is a single .xsfplugin file. It can add effects, presets, app themes or one-click commands. Install it with a drag-and-drop and switch it on or off in the Plugin manager.

For Windows 10 and 11. The installer puts Shader Forge in Program Files and adds a desktop shortcut.
